Robert Covarrubias

Robert Covarrubias is a native of Boyle Heights. His big break came in late 1978 when he was cast in the lowrider cult classic Boulevard Nights and was hired to perform with The Improvisational Theatre Project, a touring company under the umbrella of the Mark Taper Forum. He hooked up with Cold Tofu in 1984, joined Los Angeles Theatresports in 1990 and was invited to join Wrought Irony in 1992. In 1993 he made his first appearance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Since then Robert has made well over 200 Tonight Show appearances as various comic characters. His favorite being Richard Reid, the Shoe Bomber.

Recently Robert was thrilled to work with Steven Spielberg on The Terminal and Alexander Payne on Sideways. He just competed in two episodes of World Cup Comedy. Currently Robert is performing with Acme Comedy Theatre’s Zebra Company, Cold Tofu, and Impro Theatre Los Angeles.
