The main goal of the Performance Lab is to train you in the specifics of being a sketch comedy performer. In the Writing Lab you learned about the Five Foundations of sketch comedy, and you discovered that your writing style needed to adapt depending on which Foundation you were writing in. In the Performance Lab we show you that the Foundation also affects your acting style, and you need adjust accordingly.

The Lab is split into two Class Blocks. In each Block you write for the first three weeks, then the instructor selects material and sets up a show. The next three weeks are spent rehearsing, and at the end of each Block is a Performance. The whole process encompasses 16 of the most intense weeks that you’ll ever experience. At the end, the cream of the crop will be invited to join the Charlie Company as an ACME Player.

All Together Now...

If you’re reading this, that says two things about you. One, you have IMPECCABLE TASTE and you are most likely a SNAPPY DRESSER. Two, you’re already a student, so you know a fair amount about our organization and you’re ready to take the last step in our training program. Good for you! We LOVE YOU very, very much.

Now for the straight scoop. The ACME PERFORMANCE LAB is the most intense and difficult class that we offer. It’s the final step in becoming an ACME SKETCH PERFORMER. We look for many things when choosing who we invite into our little family. We look for organized, professional actors who aren’t afraid to put in the HARD WORK that goes into making comedy look effortless. We look for people who are team players, people who can PUT ASIDE THEIR OWN EGO and make the show their top priority—not just their moment in the spotlight. Finally, we want individuals who are absolutely ELECTRIC TO WATCH, who light up the stage and bring a unique comedic voice to the ACME EXPERIENCE. If you have all of those things, then we look forward to seeing you...
